Wimbledon and social media platform Snapchat have signed a three-year deal to create live stories, including user footage from the men’s and women’s tournament.
The deal with the All England Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) will see the footage added to the platforms live story section throughout the tournament and include behind the scenes and live content.
Snapchat recently revealed it had over 10 million UK users, which makes the UK its second largest market behind the US.
The social platform will also sell ad spots to sponsors, including Stella Artois and Haagen-Dazs.
“It’s about engaging with a younger generation,” head of communications, content & digital, Alexandra Willis said. “We wouldn’t want to get to a point where our audience is getting older and we haven’t found an entry point to the younger generation.”
