Snooker will not feature in the 2010 Commonwealth Games after the Commonwealth Games Federation ruled against the move although the governing body did sanction the inclusion of tennis and archery.

The CGF made the decision about the make-up of the 2010 Games to be staged in New Delhi, India after hearing presentations from a number of sports bidding for inclusion.

Speaking about the decision, Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive Mike Hooper said: ‘More work needed to be done on the growth of the sport throughout the Commonwealth. Unfortunately, Delhi didn’t just want snooker, they wanted cue sports as a package.’
