Social Media To Change Eiffel Tower Colours

UEFA Euro 2016 sponsor, Orange is giving football fans the opportunity to light the Eiffel Tower in their national team’s colours.

The Paris landmark will light up with the colours of the most popular team based on social media activity across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Orange will track activity on the platforms during the period of 12:01am and 9:30pm local time on the day of a football match, fans can express support using hashtags.

The mobile operator has said it will not count any messages that contain “blacklisted” words and are filtering posts that aren’t supportive to the respective team.

Beatrice Mandine, senior executive vice president for brand and communications at Orange commented: “Thanks to the city of Paris, we’re not just putting the fans in the spotlight, we’re giving fans the opportunity to decide how Paris and the Eiffel Tower will participate in celebrating UEFA Euro 2016. This is a unique opportunity that Orange is offering to fans to make UEFA Euro 2016 a festivetime for all.”
