Tottenham Hotspur and South Korean international footballer Son Heung-min has been unveiled as a new brand ambassador for Hong-Kong-based insurance group AIA.

The new brand endorsement deal makes Son Heung-min the first ambassador for AIA Singapore. The company claims Son’s recruitment centres around its AIA One Billion initiative, which intends to participate a billion individuals in the region to live ‘Healthier, Longer, Better Lives’ by 2030.

Son commented, “In our busy lives, we can forget many things such as how important it is to live longer, healthier and better lives. Making small changes to your lives can mean a lot. In my role as an ambassador, I will set a good example for everyone.”

The news follows AIA strengthening its relationship with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month by also naming the Spurs and England national team captain, Harry Kane, as a brand ambassador.

Since 2013, AIA has been Tottenham’s global principal partner and appears on the front of the club’s first-team shorts. In July 2019 this agreement was extended until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Melita Teo, Chief Customer and Digital Officer at AIA Singaporesaid, “Recognised as one of the greatest ever football players Asia has produced, Son is an icon and inspiration for many. His journey with football highlights his talent and personal values of self-improvement, grit, and determination.

“His values and current journey as a professional footballer to never settle for status quo is parallel to AIA Singapore’s constant pursuit to better support customers to live better by achieving holistic wellness. Together with Son, we look to create greater positive impact in the lives of Singaporeans in 2023 and beyond.”
