Digital sports agency Sotic has unveiled the revamped digital platform for the Guinness Six Nations Championship, ahead of the 2019 edition getting underway in February.
The launch of the new “fast and responsive” website, built on Sotic’s enhanced version of WordPress CMS, compliments work the agency carried out ahead of last year’s Championship to improve the matchhub on the website.
During Six Nations matches, the website can experience in excess of 30,000 unique users per minute.
The new Six Nations site is hosted on a secure and robust platform to ensure that it can cope with such significant traffic peaks throughout the tournament.
Over the last two years, Sotic has undertaken a large-scale migration to the WordPress CMS and its new offering for Six Nations Rugby aims to enhance user experience with feature-rich content.
Fans and supporters will now be able to access comprehensive news, match, player and team performance stats across any device. Information on the Women’s and Under-20 Championship will also become easily accessible.
Crucial information about kick off times and broadcasting will be available based on the specific location of the user, and newly designed pages for each team will provide match, venue, city and historical information for visitors.
The Cardiff-based digital solutions agency has been working with Six Nations Rugby since 2008.
Sotic has worked with a number of fellow sporting rightsholders since forming in 2002, providing digital solutions for the likes of British & Irish Lions, Premiership Rugby Aberdeen Football Club, Tour of Britain Cycling and World Sailing.
Commenting on the latest digital launch, Lyndsey Irwin, Sotic’s Commercial Director, said: “We are thrilled to complete the work we began on the Six Nations Rugby website last year and provide a fresh look and a greatly enhanced user experience on the Six Nations’ digital platform ahead of the 2019 Championship.
“The opportunity to work closely with such a prestigious sporting tournament is truly an honour and we’re pleased to continue our long relationship with Six Nations Rugby.
“We’re well aware of the attention focused on the Six Nations website during the Championship, regularly in excess of 30,000 unique users each minute during matches and are confident that we have developed a digital platform that will exceed Six Nations Rugby’s objectives around strengthening their online proposition.”
Shane Whelan, Six Nations Rugby Digital Manager, added: “We have worked with Sotic for the past ten years and have enjoyed a great partnership.
“Sotic have managed to deal with the short lead in time and overall the process has been very smooth throughout. We look forward to the website breaking new records this coming Championship.”
Last month saw Guinness confirmed as the new title sponsor of the Six Nations, with the Championship renamed as the Guinness Six Nations in a six-year deal.
