Southampton FC has added Malaysia-based Cyberlynx International College to its portfolio of International Academy Partners.

Under the partnership, the Premier League club will support the college’s football and education ambitions.

Cyberlynx is a not-for-profit private college in Kuala Lumpur, offering a range of diploma and certificate courses across sports, business, design and sciences. The college was established in 2006 and offers a Diploma in Football Studies as its signature programme.

“We’re looking forward to working with Cyberlynx over the coming years and we’re delighted to be working with an organisation that recognises the power of sport and in particular football,” Mark Abrahams, Southampton’s Director of Business & Community Development, said.

“There has been a natural synergy between both parties since we began discussions as we have a shared purpose and expertise in developing young people to fulfil their potential.”

The partnership will lead to various opportunities for Cyberlynx staff, students and the wider community to engage with Southampton’s coach and player development programme.

Areas of focus will include access to Southampton’s player development curriculum and its e-learning programme, and there will be opportunities for academy staff to visit Malaysia so that the club’s Soccer Clinics can be offered to young players and coaches.

Managing Director of Cyberlynx, Dato’ Nathan Mahalingam, added, “We chose Southampton FC as they are one of the best football academies in UK with a focus on football training and education similar to what Cyberlynx is trying to achieve in Malaysia.

“Our coaches and students will benefit greatly from the years of knowledge and expertise that Southampton FC has amassed in producing top level football players for many of the top teams in the English Premier League. This partnership will bring football education in Malaysia to a new level and is also in line with our plans to develop pathways for our outstanding players to play overseas.”
