Premier League football club Southampton FC has announced blockchain-powered renewable energy company Ecowatt as the club’s new official training kit partner for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season.
Ecowatt branding will appear on the men’s first team, B-team and women’s first team training kits, and will be worn for the first time at the men’s game against Newcastle United on Sunday 6th November.
Ecowatt buys and builds renewable power stations to expand the supply, whilst simultaneously funding projects that aim to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With the use of blockchain and tokens, Ecowatt’s long-term aim is to ‘make investing in sustainable energy solutions accessible and profitable for everyone.’
The climate change-focused business aligns with the Saint’s commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030. The club was recently shortlisted for the inaugural BBC Sports Green Awards for the work they have been doing around their sustainability strategy.
