Specsavers has acted fast to launch a tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign playing on the calls for goal-line technology in football following England’s 4-1 World Cup defeat to Germany.
The advert leads with the strapline: ‘Goal-line technology… from £25’ – with the image of a pair of glasses and will feature in The Sun, The Daily Star, The Daily Express and The Daily Mail.
The advert plays on Frank Lampard’s clear goal that was not given in the match and would have drawn England level at 2-2.
Since then there has been calls from managers, players and fans for goal-line technology to be introduced into the game.
The same Specsavers’ in-house creative team that developed the spoof take on the Lynx Effect ads earlier this year have developed this latest advert.
