According to media speculation, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is understood to be
reviewing its agencies, putting the handling of its estimated £30m sports
sponsorship account up for pitch.
The Edinburgh-based financial services giant is understood to be reviewing
all agencies involved in its current sponsorship deals.
RBS is reported to have already held the first round of pitches and is
predicted to draw up a shortlist of three agencies from the eight that have
already met with the bank.
According to the reports, the bank is not necessarily looking to replace any
of its incumbent agencies but is holding the pitch to ensure its sponsorship
involvements remain up to date. The review could end in additional agencies
being added to its roster.
Among RBS’ substantial sponsorship portfolio include a deal as the main
sponsor of the Williams F1 team and the title sponsor of the RBS 6 Nations Rugby
tournament.
The latter property is currently handled by Karen Earl Sponsorship with IMG
understood to be involved in the bank’s golf interests including The Open
Championship.
RBS also has a presence in the world of tennis through its sponsorship of
Scottish top 10 player Andy Murray.
