The Scottish Premier League is due to announce a date for the vote that will be taken over the league reconstruction.

The 12 member clubs met yesterday for more discussions at Hampden Park.

The plans involve the SPL switching to a smaller top league of 10 clubs, with a second tier of 12, however according to media reports, the clubs are not all in agreement as to whether or not a smaller SPL would be the correct decision.

There are also plans to increase financial support for the teams who suffer relegation.

Chief executive of the SPL, Neil Doncaster said: ‘there is a bit more work to be done to get everyone totally behind it, but there is no other option on the table – we are still looking at the 10 and the 12’.

Henry McLeish was commissioned to write a report by the Scottish Football Association into the future of Scottish football, and suggested that the change in the leagues was the most financially viable.
