TalkSPORT has reached an agreement with Nissan and Now TV, who will sponsor the radio station’s Saturday GameDay coverage of the Premier League for the 2019/20 season.
TalkSPORT’s new-look football show will begin on Saturday, 10th August when West Ham United host Premier League champions Manchester City.
Betfair has also signed on as the sole gambling advertiser during talkSPORT’s Premier League coverage between 11am and 7.30pm on game day and, as part of the agreement, talkSPORT commentators will read out live odds during matches.
The station will hold rights to the main Saturday radio broadcasting slots during the 2019/20 Premier League season and will deliver live and exclusive coverage of games at 12.30pm, 3pm and 5.30pm. Its new presenter line-up will include Reshmin Chowdhury (pictured) and Hugh Woozencroft, along with pundits such as former England internationals Darren Bent, Trevor Sinclair, Martin Keown and Glen Johnson.
TalkSPORT secured a new rights deal covering the 2019/20 to 2021/22 Premier League seasons back in April. The BBC acquired four of the packages on offer, with talkSPORT retaining the other three.
The BBC will air the bulk of the matches, with around 140 fixtures to be aired across Radio 5 Live per season. The BBC will hold exclusive rights for the Sunday afternoon matches at 2pm and 4.30pm and will also have first pick of the Saturday 3pm matches. It will also cover Friday, Saturday and Monday evening games.
TalkSport’s exclusive acquisition of the Saturday 12.30pm fixtures marks a first for a commercial radio station. It will also have exclusive rights to matches that start at midday on Sundays.
The station already has an exclusive global rights partnership with the Premier League until the end of the 2021/22 season, through which it provides live and on-demand audio coverage of all 380 matches per season around the world, excluding UK and Ireland.
