Car dealership group Vertu Motors has expanded its existing partnership with EFL Championship football club Burnley.

The relationship between the two organisations began with the 2022/23 season, when the club won promotion to the Premier League, and in August 2023 that agreement was extended to cover both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, with Vertu Motors serving as Burnley’s official automotive retail partner.

The new announcement sees the addition of the Vertu Motors-owned brand Bristol Street Motors into the agreement, which will now feature on the back of the club’s three playing kits.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors, said, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Burnley Football Club into a third season, and also to now align the club with the Bristol Street Motors brand.

“Given that this season marks 100 years of Bristol Street Motors, it is the perfect time for the brand to sit alongside one of the oldest clubs in the professional game, and one that holds special significance on a personal level having been a Burnley FC fan for so many years.

“This season, we are excited to continue working with Burnley’s community arm to strengthen our ties with the local area. Our nearby Vertu Nelson Land Rover centre will continue to have a close relationship with the Club, as will our other local Vertu Motors dealerships.”

Ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 English football season, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky has been announced as the new front-of-shirt sponsor for League Two football club Salford City.

The new agreement with the Canadian whisky brand will run for the next three seasons and, according to a statement, the ‘360-degree partnership’ will cover ‘broadcast and news media, custom social and digital content, in-store, and on-field branding experiences.’

Lorenzo Farronato, European Marketing Director at Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, said, “Football is a game all about shots – taking them and making them is what the game is all about. So, as the number one shot brand in the USA, Fireball was inspired to enter the game but knew we needed to do it right. Fireball’s partnership with Salford City FC is a match made in heaven – just like our brand, Salford believes in working hard, playing hard and having a ton of fun every step of the way. We share similarly dedicated fanbases, too, and can’t wait to deliver unexpected moments of mischief and celebration to them all season long.”

Former footballer Nicky Butt, now CEO at Salford City, added, “We are excited to welcome Fireball as our men’s team front of shirt sponsor for the next three years, and we are really looking forward to working with them. Salford has a rich history of being creative and doing things in our way, so when this opportunity to partner with Fireball came about and we saw how they have made an impression on their sector, it resonated with us and the journey we have been on since taking over a decade ago.”
