World Rugby has confirmed that Ashton Gate, the home of Bristol Bears and Bristol City Football club, will host both semi-finals at next year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup. 


The 27,000-capacity venue will host both semi-finals of the tournament, as well as two of the four quarter-finals, with Exeter’s Sandy Park, hosting the remaining fixtures. 

Ross Wormald, Operations Director for Ashton Gate Ltd, said, “It’s an honour for the Stadium to be hosting four of the six knockout games in the world’s top women’s rugby tournament. 

“Ashton Gate is firmly established as a leading international sports venue with a track record of delivering world-class events. We have a highly skilled and committed staff and preparations are well underway to ensure that we deliver the best experience for fans, players and coaches come September 2025.” 

Gavin Marshall, CEO of the Bristol Sport Group and Bears Women Board Member, added, “We are proud to have been selected by World Rugby to host both semi-finals along with two quarter-finals.

“Our sporting group is firmly focused on making a collective positive impact on the local community. We have been committed to leading the way for women’s sporting events at club and international level in both rugby and football.

“Rugby World Cup 2025 will inspire the next generation of young players and we are delighted that Ashton Gate will help do that by showcasing the world’s top stars.”

The quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of September 13th and the semi-finals the following weekend, with the final and bronze final hosted at Twickenham.


The English Football League (EFL) has renewed its radio rights deal with TalkSport and the BBC until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The terms of the agreements include:

talkSPORT

  • Exclusive live commentary rights, including:
  • Sky Bet Championship – a minimum commitment of 130 live matches, with a maximum of 150 live matches
  • Sky Bet League One & League Two – a minimum of 15 live matches, with a maximum of 15 live matches
  • Sky Bet EFL Play-Offs – all matches across the three divisions
  • Bristol Street Motors Trophy – 10 matches per season
  • Non-exclusive live commentary matches, including:
  • Carabao Cup – Up to 30 matches per season
  • Non-exclusive rights to score flash updates across all three Sky Bet EFL divisions, the Carabao Cup and the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

BBC

  • Non-exclusive rights to score flash updates across all three Sky Bet EFL divisions, the Carabao Cup and the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
  • Non-exclusive right to transmit live match commentary of up to 25 Carabao Cup matches throughout the competition, including the Final, on BBC Radio 5 Live or 5 Sports Extra

British Triathlon has announced a new partnership with coffee machine supplier Franke Coffee Systems UK.

The partnership will create exclusive opportunities and giveaways for British Triathlon members, alongside showcasing Franke coffee machines at key sites.

English Championship rugby club Bedford Blues has announced that cyber security business Intqual Pro has renewed its sponsorship deal of the club. 

Entering the second year as an official sponsor of the Blues, Intqual Pro will continue to be jersey sponsors for the Junior Blues and will also have its logo featured across all age groups and under the number on the men’ shirts.
