Sport, the UK’s biggest sport magazine, has agreed a new partnership with the ESI Media that will see the magazine distributed alongside the London Evening Standard on Thursday evenings.

The agreement will see both Sport magazine and the Evening Standard handed out together by the newspaper’s distributors at tube and rail stations in central London from the beginning of September. Sport will continue to be distributed separately on Friday mornings.

With a weekly print circulation of over 300,000, Sport is the country’s largest sport magazine and the second largest men’s magazine. Sport was the first mass distribution free magazine in the UK market when it launched in 2006, and attracts a predominantly male ABC1 readership.

Recent cover interviewees include Wayne Rooney, Usain Bolt, Gareth Bale, Jessica Ennis and Jack Wilshere, with Serena Williams joining the list on Friday morning.

Simon Caney, publisher, Sport, said: ‘The free magazine and newspaper market continues to grow, particularly in London, and this is a great opportunity for us to partner with one of the biggest names in the business. Commuters on a Thursday evening will be able to enjoy two of London’s best publications and this is a great way for us to introduce our award winning magazine to new readers.’

Tim Freeman, head of distribution for the Evening Standard, added: ‘This is a very exciting project for us as we are keen to collaborate with other significant media owners when the opportunity presents itself. Sport is a high quality, well respected title and is a good fit with our overall distribution operation. I am looking forward to a long and successful relationship between our two organisations.’
