The Sports Podcast Group has announced that entries for the Sports Podcast Awards 2023 are officially open.
Now in its second year, the global Sports Podcast Awards celebrates the very best of audio entertainment with creators around the world encouraged to enter.
From combat sports to cricket, a total of 23 categories are up for grabs in this year’s awards, including the Sports Podcast of the Year, which in 2022 was won by Morning Kombat, hosted by esteemed MMA journalists Luke Thomas and Brian Campbell.
On winning the prestigious award, Thomas said, “Winning the award allowed us to have a live show in Las Vegas with hundreds of fans in attendance. Winning this award has also helped legitimize our podcast, MMA and boxing are still working to break through into the main sports audience but being able to win Best sports podcast and not being one of the four major sports is huge.“
On opening the awards, Sports Podcast Group Managing Director, Dylan Pugh, added, “I’m delighted to announce that awards season is officially open. We had a fantastic response from the entire community to the inaugural Sports Podcast Awards and this year we want it be bigger and better.
“CBS’ Morning Kombat were a deserving overall winner, however, it was also amazing to see some independent podcasts winning in their respective categories. As such, regardless of size, I’d like to encourage podcasts around the world to consider entering the awards and wish the best of luck to all our entrants – may the best podcasters win!
Entries for the Sports Podcast Awards 2023 will close in mid-November.
