Sport Tech Hub, the London Sport-backed sport-tech incubator programme, has kicked off its search for a new generation of start-ups committed to helping more people get active in London, the UK and around the world.

Following the success of the first Sport Tech Hub cohort, which has since seen alumni graduate into the Open Data Institute’s OpenActive Accelerator, Facebook’s LDN_LAB, Techstars Boulder 2018 and HYPE Lab UK, the programme is looking to recruit up to 12 start-ups into a 24-week programme that will turn today’s early-stage innovators into tomorrow’s solutions to changing lives through sport.

Offering access to a network of business advisors, public funding expertise, angel investors, entrepreneurs, athletes and tech giants alongside a pool of potential partners ranging from national governing bodies to regional and national policy makers, Sport Tech Hub exists to bring together the best and brightest of new innovators for physical activity and sport. Through associations with partners including law-firm Fieldfisher, professional services firm PwC and the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency, London & Partners, the incubator programme will help start-ups to benefit from London’s reputation in technology innovation.

Tove Okunniwa, chief executive of London Sport, said: “London’s position as a global centre for technology innovation is undisputed. Through our backing of Sport Tech Hub, we want to support the capital’s founders, creators and technology experts who share our belief that technology can support happier, healthier and more active people here in London, and across the world.”

Barry Murphy, partner at PwC, added: “Through our partnership with London Sport, it’s exciting to strengthen our ties to the sport and health tech community – a rapidly growing industry.

“We’re proud of being at the heart of a goal of getting 1,000,000 Londoners more active by 2020 alongside London Sport, and the exciting SportTech businesses that are supported by Sport Tech Hub.”

Start-up applications open from 31st May and close on 3rd July 2018.
