Sports media and digital marketing agency Sports Revolution, in collaboration with app developers Pocket App, has developed a free-to-download app for visitors to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
As use of the app grows, it learns what visitors expect and why they are visiting, as well as becoming a tool to drive return visits by promoting upcoming attractions and events.
Following a tender process run by the London Legacy Development Corporation in 2014, Sports Revolution and Pocket App were chosen to enhance public engagement in locations focused on sports and recreation.
The ‘Smart Park App’ has been designed to further enhance the experience for visitors of the park. Features of the app include content tailored to location, allowing users to explore the walks, tours and attractions and technology which allows users to modify content to suit their reason for visiting the park.
Ben Edmonds of the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “Sports Revolution and Pocket App were our first choice to deliver this project. Together they have the experience in delivering the necessary technology and ensuring that the app enhances visits to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
“Our initial design and development focus was in the areas of up-to-date information sharing, interactive way finding and the enhancement of the visitor experience; we feel that our app now supports these objectives well and going forward we will continue to develop and improve on its capabilities. With over 8 million people from all over the world already having visited this unique location and many more visitors, residents and workers who will make use of the park in the future, we hope that our app will be helpful to them and will make their day even more enjoyable.”
Kelly Williams, managing director, Sports Revolution, said: “We have been thrilled to work with the London Legacy Development Corporation to deliver a state of the art app for visitors to an iconic London venue, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Much of our work is geared towards enhancing experience through powerful content and relevant information, delivered directly to the user. This will play a big role in enhancing the park experience as visitor numbers grow during the coming year.”
Visitors to the Park are able to enjoy parklands and waterways, sporting venues, arts and events and get views from the ArcelorMittal Orbit. The Park will also provide new homes, jobs and a cultural and education quarter.
