Japanese streaming platform SPOTV NOW has acquired the broadcast rights to the Scottish Premier League Football (SPFL) in Japan.
Under terms of the new agreement, financial details of which were not released, SPOTV NOW will broadcast one game from the 38-round SPFL season with an emphasis placed on Celtic, owing to the club’s signing of several Japanese players over the last year.
A statement from SPOTV NOW said, “2022/23 season Scottish Premiership will be delivered. Japanese players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, and Yosuke Ideguchi belong to Celtic. At SPOTVNOW , we plan to deliver 38 games in total, one game per section, centred on Celtic games.”
The 2022 SPFL season begins 30th July.
