An environmental expert has warned that the famous Old Course at St Andrews Golf Club is in damage of being eroded into the North Sea.
In a new study, Professor Jan Bebbington, director of the St Andrews Sustainability Institute, has visualised the effect of climate change on Scotland in 50 years.
She was one of several commissioned by the David Hume Institute to predict what would happen in the future.
Her report, launched at the Dynamic Earth event in Edinburgh today, predicts that by the year 2050 the coastline around St Andrews will have eroded to such a degree that the Old Course will be submerged by water.
Prof Bebbington was asked to write an imaginary speech based on the assumption that Scotland had attained an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2050.
