Strongbow cider has launched a cricket challenge as part of its ‘Earn It’ campaign, throwing down the gauntlet to consumers to step up to the wicket and face an over from Lancashire and England fast bowler James Anderson.
The cricket activation kicks off the ‘Earn It’ campaign, which will see fans stepping up and taking on a series of high profile challenges.
Those wanting to face James can apply online, with ten finalists chosen to take part in the ‘Earn It’ training process, where a top coach will help them prepare to take on the bowling legend – who claimed his 300th Test wicket for England last month.
One lucky winner will then have the chance to show they can walk the walk by heading out to the middle to face James later this summer.
James Anderson said: ‘We all know someone who, when they’re watching sport, thinks they could score that penalty, catch that ball or hit a fast bowler to the boundary. Well…this is their chance to step up and prove it by surviving six of my quickest deliveries.’
Strongbow brand director Michael Gillane says: ‘With the Ashes coming up fast, there will be thousands of people all over the country picturing themselves facing a Test match bowler in full flight. We’re giving one lucky winner the chance to take on this once in a lifetime challenge but they’ll have to prove they are ready to ‘Earn It’ first. For those who don’t think they can handle playing against James, they’ll be plenty more chances to try their hand against other stars in other ‘Earn It’ challenges throughout the year.’
Challengers looking to step out of their comfort zone and take on Anderson will need to register on the Strongbow website -www.strongbow.com.
