Online ticketing marketplace StubHub has announced its latest UK sporting partnership, in the form of Premiership Rugby’s Leicester Tigers, its first such agreement with a rugby club. The deal takes effect immediately and continues through to the end of the 2015/16 season.
The Leicester Tigers are arguably the most successful club in English rugby history with a record nine league titles and appearances in eight successive Premiership finals since 2005. They also won the Heineken Cup in 2001 and 2002, becoming the first team to win successive European titles.
Aside from the rights to manage the club’s official ticket exchange, the deal also gives StubHub pitch-side marketing, a presence on the club website and other marketing channels including social media and CRM channels, access to VIP experiences and a number of promotional player appearances.
This will be the fifth high profile sporting partnership signed by StubHub since its UK launch in March 2012, with Leicester Tigers joining NBA in the UK, Sunderland AFC, Everton FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC on the StubHub roster.
The partnership will allow season ticket holders to list tickets for home games and sell to other fans – with no price floors or caps.
Nick Harford, director of partnerships, International for StubHub said: ‘We are delighted to be partnering with Leicester Tigers and look forward to working together to offer fans access to some of the most exciting games in Premiership and Heineken Cup rugby. As with all our partnerships we aim to offer fans a best in class service where they can buy and sell tickets safely and securely and help support their Club by keeping the stadium full.’
Simon Cohen, CEO of Leicester Tigers added: ‘StubHub’s superior technological platform, its relentless focus on the fan and its track record for quality customer service made it the obvious choice for us. Our fans are at the heart of everything we do as a Club and we know that StubHub will take good care of them.’
