Study Shows Loyalty Of Football Fans

An annual research report has released statistics about the increasing popularity of Barclays Premier League, including numbers that show its larger fanbase than other football governing bodies and loyalty of the Premier League’s following.

The report showed that 98 percent of its survey’s respondents are fans of the Barclays Premier League. A high proportion of these supporters also follow the UEFA Champions League (87 percent), La Liga (45 percent) and Serie A (18 percent).

The study also found that 85 percent of Barclays Premier League fans would never change the team they support and 81 percent of fans across the globe highlighted football as their most regular topic of conversation – even ahead of relationships, family matters and the economy.

Findings regarding individual teams and players also were also stated in the report. Liverpool and Spain striker, Fernando Torres, was found to be the fans’ favourite current Barclays Premier

League player and former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry, was crowned favourite Barclays Premier League player of all-time. Old Trafford was voted fans’ favourite Barclays Premier League stadium.

The report was created from a survey taken by 33,000 people worldwide and includes information from Europe, Asia, and North America, and the Middle East, representing 185 countries.
