Sunderland AFC have agreed a new long-term partnership with Centerplate to continue as the matchday hospitality provider to the Barclays Premier League club.
As part of the new deal, for which financial details were not released, the food service offerings and areas inside the Stadium of Light – the club’s home ground – will be enhanced, along with the upper concourse.
The company has provided matchday catering at the stadium since the ground opened in 1997.
Centerplate has also named the stadium as a ‘Centre of Excellence’, which will see the ground used for staff training, the development of new food and drink concepts, and beta-testing of new technologies and equipment.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial director at Sunderland AFC, said of the deal: “As a club, we are always looking at new innovative ways of improving the experience of every fan or visitor that comes to the Stadium of Light, and through this partnership we will look to further develop our public catering offering and look forward to the future and continuing working with Centerplate.”
