The Wave, a partner of the Sport Industry Group NextGen programme, is working together with The University of Bristol’s Physical Activity and Public Health department to further understand the current behaviours of surfers and perceived health benefits of surfing across the UK.

As part of the research, both organisations are asking surfers across the UK to participate in an anonymous online survey.

As a away of thanking surfers for their time, anyone who completes the survey will also have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a two night stay and surf at The Wave for four people.

The survey itself build on one carried out 10 years ago by the charity Surfers Against Sewage, and aims to provide valuable insights which will help to grow awareness and participation in the sport both inland and at the coast.

The Wave is an inland surfing destination based in Bristol where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy of waves and their many physical and mental health benefits.

Founded by former osteopath Nick Hounsfield, who decided to embark on the new career path due to a desire to positively impact people’s health and wellbeing’ and ‘build a connection to community and the planet.

As part of SIG’s partnership with The Wave, all Sport Industry Group Members are entitled to a 10% discount for their staff via the organisation’s business partnership scheme. All members should speak to one of the SIG team to receive their discount code.

Additionally, if you want to take your team to The Wave, speak to the team and build your perfect away day.
