Swansea City has signed a shirt sponsorship with Chinese financial services firm Goldenway, which will see its GWFX brand logo sported on the white and gold kit for the 2013/14 season, in the biggest deal in the Swans’ history.

According to ITV.com, the sponsorship – brokered by sports marketing agency SportQuake – is worth a reported £2 million and replace online gaming company 32Red on the team’s playing shirts.

According to a club press release, the sponsorship will see Goldenway and Swansea launch a number of joint initiatives in new markets, including the Greater China region.

Swansea City’s vice chairman Leigh Dineen said: ‘We are delighted to confirm Goldenway as the club’s main sponsor. It is the first time Goldenway has invested in football sponsorship and we are honoured that they have entrusted us to carry their brand into the Barclays Premier League and the world stage.’

‘It shows how far we have come over the last decade, on and off the pitch, and I’m convinced that this new partnership will help take our global profile to a whole new level. Goldenway is trusted by investors throughout the world. They are leaders in the financial industry and I’m sure that we can establish a fantastic working relationship together as we drive both businesses forward over the next 12 months.’

Darren Vickers, the director of Goldenway UK, added: ‘Goldenway are excited to be the new official sponsor of Swansea City AFC. The Goldenway ethos shares the same spirit and values as Swansea and we see sponsoring one of the Premier League’s most exciting sides as a key marketing opportunity to help communicate our corporate philosophy.’

‘We pride ourselves on the speed and quality of service and we consider the high-profile partnership between a Forex company and a football club as a natural fit for the future ambitions of both the club and business.’

Swansea City finished 9th in the Barclays Premier League last season and will commence a European campaign in 2013/14 after defeating Bradford in the Capital One Cup Final earlier this year.
