The Attorney General of Switzerland has charged Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President, Paris Saint-Germain and beIN Sports and a member of UEFA’s executive committee, in connection with an investigation into the sale of FIFA World Cup TV rights.

The alleged offences include inciting former UEFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke to commit aggravated criminal mismanagement.

Khelaifi, however, will not face charges of bribery himself after FIFA agreed to drop its criminal complaint relating to the awarding of the 2026 and 2030 World Cup TV rights to beIN Sports after a three-year investigation.

He said in a statement: “After an exhaustive three-year investigation, where I have fully and openly cooperated with the public prosecutor in Switzerland, I am pleased that all charges of bribery in connection with the 2026 and 2030 World Cups have been dropped.”

“The charges have not — and have never had — any basis whatsoever, either in fact or law.”
