talkSPORT has renewed its partnership with Racecourse Media Group to broadcast live commentary of the UK’s biggest horse races throughout the year.
In addition to the Grand National and Cheltenham’s Festival and Open fixtures, the new deal will see the sports radio station expand its live on-course broadcasts to also include the Epsom Derby, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.
Last year was the first time that the Grand National had been broadcast on commercial radio in the UK following talkSPORT’s partnership with Racecourse Media Group.
Racing correspondent Rupert Bell will again be at the helm of the station’s race coverage and live commentary from Aintree.
Liam Fisher, talkSPORT programme director, said: “Our coverage of the premier events in UK racing has proved extremely successful with listeners and continues to offer great opportunities to our advertisers. The Cheltenham Festival is one of the highlights of our live sport calendar and I’m sure that this week will be as entertaining as ever. I’m really excited to be extending this agreement with Racecourse Media Group to continue to bring the very best races to air on the world’s biggest sports radio station.”
Racecourse Media Group, the parent company of horseracing channel Racing UK, manages the media rights for 34 of the UK’s leading racecourses, including Aintree, Ascot, Cheltenham, Epsom and Newmarket.
Clive Cottrell, director of marketing at RMG, added: “We are delighted that the sport is receiving such an excellent shop window through talkSPORT. Clearly there is an appetite for top-class racing given the coverage will extend to other flagship meetings this year. We look forward to working closely together in promoting the sport.”
