Two of the UK’s biggest media brands, talkSPORT and The Times, have joined forces for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

talkSPORT is an official broadcaster for the tournament and The Times will be the station’s exclusive press partner for the world’s biggest sporting event, which kicks off today. The partnership was brokered by MSix.

For the four weeks of the tournament The Times journalists and columnists including Tony Evans, Oliver Kay, Matt Dickinson, Matt Hughes, Rory Smith, and James Ducker will appear live on the station to discuss the day’s biggest stories and offer insights into all of the news from Brazil. In addition, talkSPORT will run bespoke trails promoting The Times across its schedule and online adverts at talkSPORT.com in the station’s dedicated World Cup hub.

Commenting on the partnership, Adam Mills, talkSPORT Sales Director said: ‘The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world for both fans and the media, and talkSPORT will have wall-to-wall coverage from Brazil right through to the final. We know both talkSPORT and The Times have the best sports journalists in the business, and by partnering we can give our listeners even more insight into everything that’s happening during the tournament.’

Nick Stringer, Director of Marketing Communications at News UK said: ‘Our partnership with talkSPORT is further evidence of our commitment to providing our readers with the very best sports content, be it in the newspaper, in our tablet edition or in our new dedicated Sports app. By partnering with the world’s biggest sports radio station we’ll be giving football fans access to unrivalled commentary, opinion and analysis throughout the tournament.’
