Former Scottish Football Association chief executive David Taylor has been
confirmed as the new general secretary of European football governing body UEFA.
Taylor takes up the reins at UEFA with immediate effect working directly
under the governing body’s newly elected president Michel Platini.
The appointment had been widely expected after Taylor stepped down his post
at the Scottish FA at the turn of the year after being offered the UEFA
position.
Taylor had held the position of chief executive and secretary of the Scottish
Football Association since August 1999 when he succeeded Jim Farry, becoming
only the sixth secretary in the SFA’s history.
Taylor was also a respected member of UEFA’s Disciplinary and Control Body
since 2002.
