London Sport has been appointed by the Tennis Foundation to increase participation in disability tennis across 21 Local Authority areas in the south, east and north east of London.
The project, which will be delivered as part of London Sport’s insight consultancy service, will build on previous work conducted by London Sport on behalf of the Tennis Foundation, which used secondary data analysis to identify participation growth opportunities in the west of the capital.
The Tennis Foundation aims to make the sport as inclusive and accessible to all people and communities. The Tennis Foundation’s work supports people across core areas, including enabling disabled people to play tennis, supporting young people in education, and uniting, educating and inspiring young people in disadvantaged communities.
Commenting on the appointment, London sport director of insight and performance, Tim Copley, said:”We are excited to be working to support the Tennis Foundation’s work in London in this new assignment. Tennis is an important part of London’s sporting fabric, and I am pleased that through this project we will be able to contribute to the important work that the Tennis Foundation delivers across the capital.”
David Hardman, disability development manager – London, South East & East for the Tennis Foundation added: “We are pleased to be working with London Sport on this project. Having worked with the team on a prior opportunity analysis for west London, we were eager to expand this work to other parts of London. Through this project, we hope to expand the already significant impact of our work across the capital, and to support more people to enjoy the benefits of tennis in London.”
