Tenzing Signs First Sports Ambassadors

TENZING has announced the signing of two Olympic hopefuls, climber Molly Thompson-Smith (pictured above) and triathlete Ben Dijkstra. 

The plant-based energy drink brand says the partnerships will be crucial in the climbing and triathlon worlds, where traditional energy drinks have previously been the main market leader. 

The brand has also highlighted the fact that one of its first official athletes is a climber given its natural link to the activity, taking its name from Tenzing Norgay, Nepali-Indian Sherpa mountaineer who was one of the first two men to reach the summit of Mount Everest, with Edmund Hillary in 1953. 

Thompson-Smith, who holds five national championship titles in Lead Climbing and is ranked 7th in the world, said of the partnership: “I’m psyched to have found an energy drink that tastes good, and makes me feel good. As someone who cares a lot about what I put into my body, it’s comforting to know all of the ingredients listed on the can and know they’re all natural!

“Spending more time at home over the last year gave me a lot of time and space to realise that there were so many ways I could lead a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. I’ve already had discussions about this with the TENZING team, and they’ve even made me carbon neutral!” 

Meanwhile, TENZING has also furthered its portfolio in triathlon with the signing of Dijkstra, following on from its sponsorship of both the Blenheim Triathlon and the London Triathlon, both organised by LimeLight Sports Club.

Dijkstra added: “I wanted to get involved with TENZING because I genuinely believe the product will help my performance. Beyond the product, they work on some great environmental projects that will ensure I live a more planet-friendly lifestyle too – they’re even helping me become carbon neutral!”
