The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the fixtures for the 2023 edition of The Hundred.

The Hundred, which is heading into its third year, will return on 1st August with the opener to be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The competition, which includes both men’s and women’s tournaments, will end with the final on 27th August at Lord’s.

The announcement follows the recent news that the competition’s biggest sponsor, car retailer Cazoo, has decided against continuing to sponsor cricket’s newest format after serving as the title sponsor for the first two years.

Cazoo’s departure highlights a difficult time for cricket commercially. In December, insurance brokers Royal London ended its sponsorship of domestic and international 50-over cricket.

In addition, LV=’s three-year sponsorship of men’s and women’s Test cricket and the County Championship will end in 2023.

Now, the ECB is searching for new sponsors for all the major formats of the game.

Speaking on Cazoo’s decision to not renew its deal with The Hundred, an ECB spokesperson said, “We thank Cazoo for their great support over the first two years of The Hundred. We are really proud of the variety of partners who have helped establish The Hundred and throw cricket’s doors open.

“We look forward to announcing more new partnerships as we get closer to the third year of the competition.”

The Hundred has retained its crucial broadcast deals that will see coverage continue across Sky Sports and the BBC in 2023.

Looking ahead to the tournament, Sanjay Patel, Managing Director of The Hundred, commented, “I am incredibly proud of the impact The Hundred has already had on cricket in England and Wales after just two years, providing a new format that has seen more families and a diverse new generation of fans getting into the game.

“As we enter year three, we’re looking forward to building on that momentum and putting on another unforgettable summer of world-class cricket action and entertainment that will continue to appeal to new and existing audiences alike.”
