Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) has renewed its partnership with Canterbury of New Zealand for a further two years.

The renewal makes Canterbury the first commercial partner to extend its deal with the PWR. Building on last season’s initiative, the brand will once again offer every registered player in the league elite-performance rugby boots and an item of kit.

More than 450 players across all nine PWR clubs will be offered boots tailored to their position, including the Speed, Phoenix, and Stampede models. Players are not required to wear the boots during matches if they have an existing sponsorship deal.

Ellie Kildunne, Canterbury Ambassador, said, “I remember Canterbury launching this initiative last season and it felt like an important moment for the sport. Women’s rugby is growing faster than ever, the renewal of the partnership is absolutely the right thing at the right time for the game. The fact that Canterbury is partnering with the PWR again demonstrates their genuine commitment to support our growth. It is exactly the kind of support we need to keep taking the game to the next level!”

Genevieve Shore, Executive Chair, PWR, added, “I’m delighted to be renewing our partnership with Canterbury. To have a brand of their calibre so excited about extending their partnership with the PWR is a sign of how our league continues to go from strength to strength. To have Canterbury supporting our athletes in this way will ensure they’re equipped for the biggest and best PWR season to date.”

Simon Rowe, Senior Vice President of Canterbury & Sports Marketing, Pentland Brands, said, “We’re incredibly proud of what this partnership achieved last season. The players’ response and the stories we’ve heard underline the value of the programme, and it’s great to be able to continue it. Women’s rugby has fantastic momentum after the Red Roses’ summer success, and Canterbury is committed to playing its part in that growth. Supporting the players and giving them the best possible platform has always been central to our role in the game, and it’s something we’re determined to keep building on.”
