Thomas Lyte, creators of the BT Sport Industry Awards’ trophies, has created a one of a kind piece to commemorate the Rugby World Cup in England this year.
The sterling silver and 24 carat gold plated Rugby World Cup final match ball is one of the final pieces of memorabilia available on the official England 2015 auction page.
Produced directly from Gilbert’s original design files for Rugby World Cup 2015 match balls, the full scale model depicts distinctive markings of the ball used in the final match played at Twickenham between New Zealand and Australia, ultimately won by the All Blacks.
Kevin Baker, CEO of Thomas Lyte – who also act as the official goldsmiths and restorers of the Webb Ellis Cup – said: “How exciting to create a unique Match Ball replica to commemorate the 2015 Rugby World Cup tournament, in our London workshops, where our goldsmiths had the pleasure to restore the Webb Ellis Cup. Crafted from solid sterling silver ball has been 24 carat gold-plated from the same gold tanks as the Webb Ellis itself.”
