Three To Resume Chelsea FC Sponsorship

Premier League football club Chelsea FC’s sponsorship deal with telecommunications company Three is set to resume following the club’s sale.

Three suspended its links with the club in March as the UK government sanctioned Blues owner Roman Abramovich over his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the invasion of Ukraine.

The sanctions led to the sale of club to a Todd Boehly-led consortium. The deal was completed by the LA Dodgers co-owner in May for £4.25bn.

The company had previously asked Chelsea to remove its logo from shirts and the stadium but is now willing to resume sponsorship.

Despite Three’s request, Chelsea continued to display the company’s logo on its shirts until the end of the season as shirt manufacturer Nike was prevented from supplying the club with new unsponsored shirts because of the sanctions. Other solutions, including taping or spray painting over the logo were rejected as unworkable.

John Rogers, Chelsea Football Club’s head of global partnerships, commented, “Following the recent pause in their activities, the Club is pleased to have resumed our work with Three and we look forward with excitement to the start of the new season, together.

“We would like to thank all Club partners for their support now and in the future.”

Three has sponsored Chelsea since 2020. The deal is worth £40m to the Stamford Bridge club and sees Three sponsor both their men’s and women’s teams.
