The Times has announced details of its new marketing campaign to promote its Premier League highlights clip offering on mobile and online. As part of The Times smartphone app, subscribers will be able to access The Goals hub, which will provide all the Premier League action when the season kicks off this weekend.
Highlights from every match will be available from 5.30pm every Saturday and near-live video goal clips every other day of the week, direct to their smartphone.
The package follows the award of domestic near-live clip rights to News International earlier this year. As part of the deal, News International were awarded the rights to all 380 league fixtures from the upcoming season through until 2015/16.
The campaign, which launch on Monday, sees The Times’ masthead crest replaced with symbolic imagery from all 20 Premier League clubs.
The campaign will run outdoor on 48-sheets nationwide and on the London Underground as cross-tracks and tube cards throughout August and September.
The Premier League clips form part of The Times’ new Goals hub, which will give fans access to near-live goal replays, live commentary and expert analysis, all in one place.
Suzi Watford, marketing director, The Times and The Sunday Times said: ‘The Times already provides subscribers with the best in football coverage and analysis throughout the week, and the addition of Premier League clips makes the offer even better. Fans will be able to see every single goal in England’s top flight this season, as well as all the latest news and views from the game’s leading experts.’
The creative agency for the work was The Team News Box, which is part of CHI & Partners’ in-house team at News UK. The PR for the campaign will be managed by tpf – The Publicity Factory.
