The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced Toyota as a new official partner, with the car manufacturer signing an initial two-year deal to support England’s elite cricket teams.
As part of the agreement, the England men’s squad will drive a variety of Toyota cars, including the RAV4 and Land Cruiser models, while the brand will also have access to players for marketing and publicity purposes.
Toyota, a current backer of Cricket Australia, as well as the IOC, will also have prominent advertising at cricket grounds across England as well as headline sponsorship of international cricket highlights provided throughout the UK by Channel 5.
Sanjay Patel, ECB commercial director, said: “Ahead of a hugely exciting summer of cricket for the England team, we’re delighted to be entering into a new partnership with Toyota. They are a leading high profile automotive brand that continually strives for enhanced performance; a great fit for England cricket. The deal highlights the continued appeal England cricket brings to a variety of brands.”
Matt Harrison, Toyota GB president and managing director, added: “Our partnership with the ECB is an excellent opportunity for us to support a fantastic sport that reaches millions of people. We’re proud to be backing England for every success this summer and beyond and providing its players and personnel with vehicles they can depend on.”
England are currently preparing to take on New Zealand in a home series that includes two Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches, before facing Australia in the Ashes throughout August and September.
