The International Triathlon Union has stated that next week’s BG Triathlon World
Championships in Hamburg have attracted record TV coverage with over 118
countries buying rights packages for the event.

The championships kick off on 31st August and will boast the most extensive
live TV coverage of any ITU Triathlon World championship, which have been staged
since 1989.

ITU has given first priority to free-to-air broadcasters in order to maximise
the exposure and reach of the sport with the BBC taking the rights in the UK.

In addition to the 22 territories where the event will be broadcast live, it
will also be tape-delayed in a record number of countries. In all, extended
coverage of the 2007 BG Triathlon World Championships will be seen in over 118
countries.
