The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has revealed details of a new partnership with social media platform Twitter, coming into place in time for the start of the 2014 World Cup on Saturday.

For the first time ever, fans will get live scores from every game of Fiba’s flagship national team event on Twitter. By tweeting ‘@FIBA scores’ fans can find out in real time how their team is performing.

The partnership also includes additional initiatives, including the Vine Booth and Twitter Mirror events-focused services, that will allow Fiba and Twitter to provide off the court insight into competing players during the World Cup, which runs through to 14th September in Spain.

Fiba added that the collaboration with Twitter will also take in the 2014 World Championship for Women, which takes place in Turkey two weeks later.
