Twitter UK has launched a new #WomeninFootball campaign, in collaboration with broadcaster Jacqui Oatley and Women in Football.
In one of a series of four short films showcasing stories from across the game, BBC and ITV’s Jacqui Oatley has said it will take two generations to make football a more equal environment.
Highlighting the range of voices on Twitter, the films features pundits, performance analysts and players. The aim is to offer a new perspective into the lives of those striving to even the playing field.
The films come as Twitter & Women in Football look to increase coverage of the Women’s game in the lead up to a World Cup year. Fans are able to watch selected Lionesses fixtures live on Twitter.

Women in Football CEO Jane Purdon said: “We’re delighted to partner with Twitter to amplify the conversation about how football is changing.
“There’s a lot of work to do before our national game is truly equal, but we hope that the stories of these wonderful women and a male ally, showcased across four fantastic short films, will inspire all who love football to keep pushing for change.”
Viv Bowdler, Marketing at Twitter UK, added: “Twitter is incredibly committed to our role in enabling the women’s footballing community to connect and strive for change together.
“We constantly hear the stories of men and women who lead by example and are changing the perimeters of the modern game through their personal contributions, however big or small.
“These films aim to unite this range of voices through the lens of Twitter, celebrating their journeys yet reminding everyone how far there is to go.”
In July Twitter launched its first ever #WomeninFootball emoji. Exclusively on Twitter the emoji celebrates #WomeninFootball as one the fastest growing trends in equality conversation on Twitter.
