Adidas has unveiled the new official match ball for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League group stage.

The new ball, which diverts from the traditional white, features a “blend of blues, florescent oranges and yellows”, while the Champions League stars on the ball are bigger than they were on last year’s edition.

Adidas also claims that the ball is both seamless and thermally bonded, saying that this will “help to increase accuracy for the players, giving a truer touch when receiving a pass.”

The ball will be used only during the group stage, which begins this week, and will bow out of the competition in December. Adidas are then set to unveil a new ball for the knockout stages, which will officially be launched in early 2020.

This year’s Champions League final, whose brand identity was recently released by UEFA, will take place in Istanbul on 30th May where defending champions Liverpool will hope to defend their title.
