UEFA has confirmed that Russia has been barred from competing in this summer’s women’s Euro 2022, while Russian clubs will also be banned from UEFA competitions next season.

European football’s governing body has announced that Russia’s bid to host the men’s Euro 2028 or Euro 2032 tournaments is now ineligible too. The sanctions come amid Russia’s continued war in Ukraine.

On Monday, UEFA announced that Portugal, who lost to Russia in the play-offs, will replace them at Euro 2022, which takes place in July. Russia’s women’s national team will also no longer compete in European qualification for the 2023 World Cup, while the men’s side is barred from the 2022-23 Nations League.


The National Football League’s UK-based NFL Academy will relocate to Loughborough College and Loughborough University for the start of the 2022-23 academic year. Currently based at Barnet and Southgate College in London, the NFL Academy provides students aged 16-19 with pathways into employment, further education and the opportunity to play NCAA college football in the United States.

Throughout the partnership, the college will provide high-quality coaching, education, accommodation and pastoral support to its cohort of players, while the University will provide performance staff and world-class facilities to focus on the physical development of students. 


Manchester City, Green Bay Packers and FC Bayern Munich have announced that the second fixture of City’s 2022/23 US preseason trip will take place in Green Bay on Saturday 23rd July. The ‘USA Cup’ will mark the first-ever football match to be played at the historic American football stadium, Lambeau Field.

Pep Guardiola’s men will face Bayern Munich, in the second meeting between the clubs on US territory after Man City defeated Bayern 3-2 in 2018, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium in an International Champions Cup match. The first match of the club’s US preseason trip will take place on at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas against Club América before the team travels up to Green Bay.


Manchester United has pledged its support to UNICEF’s Children in Crisis campaign at Monday’s evening’s home game against Brentford FC in order to raise vital funds to help children in emergency situations around the world.

Manchester United has committed to a donation of £50,000 for the fund and pledged the net proceeds of the Manchester United Foundation Matchday Lottery. The campaign was promoted to fans inside Old Trafford and around the world through pitch-side branding and via the club’s global media channels.
