UEFA has extended its partnership with global sportswear brand adidas for a further three years, ahead of the UEFA Champions League final this weekend.

The deal will see adidas continue as the official match ball supplier of the UEFA Champions League through until at least 2021, retaining the role it has held since 2001.

The agreement also covers the UEFA Super Cup, the annual match between the reigning Champions League and Europa League champions, as well as the UEFA Youth League and the UEFA Futsal Champions League.

Japanese company Molten secured the ball supply deal for the second-tier UEFA Europa League tournament last October.

The deal marks the seventh partnership announcement for UEFA’s 2018 to 2021 sponsorship cycle, with Heineken, Nissan, PepsiCo, Mastercard and Gazprom all extending their backing of the tournament, while Santander has also been secured as a new partner.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA’s marketing director, said in a statement: “adidas has been a valued partner of the UEFA Champions League since we joined forces in 2001, and we are delighted that we will be continuing our relationship for another three seasons.

adidas was named Brand of the Year in association with Wiggin at last month’s BT Sport Industry Awards 2018. View all the winners here
