UEFA has unveiled the mascots for the European Championships set to take place in Poland and Ukraine in 2012.?
Dressed in red/white and yellow/blue football strips, the twin mascots wear the national colours of the two host countries.?
Amongst the personalities present to witness the arrival of the mascot twins created by Warner Bros, were the presidents of the host associations Grzegorz Lato and Grigoriy Surkis, David Taylor CEO UEFA Events SA, Polish Sports Minister Adam Giersz, together with UEFA EURO 2012 Ambassadors Oleg Blokhin, Zbigniew Boniek, Andriy Shevchenko and Andrzej Szarmach.?
The first appearance of the twin mascots on a football will take place during special ceremonies around the friendly match of Poland against Ivory Coast in Poznan, and around the friendly match of Switzerland against Ukraine in Geneva.?
The twin mascots will also embark on a tour of the two host countries in order to meet the public and interact with the population and the children through various programmes of activities planned in each of the eight host cities.?
The names of the twin mascots will be chosen by fans from all over the world and fans can vote on the internet, at UEFA 2012 sponsor McDonald’s restaurants or at the road shows.??
Fans have a choice to call the mascots either Slavek and Slavko, Siemko and Strimko or Klemek and Ladko.
