UEFA has announced new plans that will aim to crack down on racism during matches after chants and inappropriate actions have increased throughout this season.
The governing body’s president Michel Platini has vowed that play will stop or the game will be abandoned if racist actions occur.
If the fans become hostile, the game w ill stop for 10 minutes and announcement will be made, the president said. If the racist slurs continue after this process, the game will be terminated.
The new plan comes after the most recent incident in the league, when Inter Milan player Mario Balotelli was racially abused by Juventus fans during their last Champions League match.
This is, of course, just one of many issues UEFA has encountered this season regarding racist chants from fans.
Now, Platini, as well as Italian federation president Giancarlo Abete, who hopes to bring Euro 2016 to the country, have called for the rules to be changed in an effort to halt racist slurs from fans.
