UKA has branched into social media by launching an official Facebook page where followers will be able to follow the latest news, videos, photo galleries and blogs surrounding Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Fans will be able to engage with all the news, blogs and videos from some of the world’s best athletes as London 2012 draws closer.
The page will complement UKA’s Twitter feed which keeps fans up-to-date with all the news as well as behind-the-scenes updates from events.
All the videos will also be uploaded to the UKA TV YouTube channel.
Spot prizes in the form of event tickets will be handed out and fans will be able to join in with campaigns and competitions which will go on throughout the season in the run up to the finale at the Crystal Palace Diamond League meeting.
The launch is part of UKA’s ambition of promoting athletics to a 21st century audience.
UKA’s Head of Marketing and Communications Claire Furlong said: ‘Social Media is fast becoming the main way for many sports and brands to communicate and as the number one Olympic and Paralympic sport we are continually striving to lead the way in how we raise the profile of the sport.’
