Uka Signs Lucozade Sport Sponsorship
Sports drink brand Lucozade Sport has struck a new sponsorship deal with UKA, the national governing body for athletics, providing a range of nutrition products to elite athletes.
The announcement made on the eve of the first indoor event of the 2009 season, will see Lucozade Sport become the first official sports nutrition supplier to UKA, supplying an extensive range of contaminant-tested sports nutrition products and support services to athletes at leading international events, high performance athletics centres (HiPACs), and throughout the network of clubs in the UK.
The long-term partnership will run for an initial four-year period, up to and past the London 2012 Olympics.
The team of sports scientists at Lucozade Sport will work closely with the athletes and the UKA performance team to provide sports science education to each of the UK’s HiPACs as well as key events in the athletics calendar, including the six UK Athletics Major Events.
The appointment of a sports nutrition partner also lends added credibility to UKA given that Lucozade Sport products are tested by an independent laboratory for contaminants prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
