Under Armour has expanded its football roster with the signing of Germany’s Jonathan Tah as the latest member of its elite global athlete team. The deal follows a weekend of highs and lows for Under Armour athletes, with Anthony Joshua claiming the IBF title, while Jordan Spieth came within a few holes of claiming back to back Masters.

20-year-old Tah, considered to be one of the biggest rising stars in German football, will now wear Under Armour footwear, apparel and equipment as part of the new deal.

The defender made his international debut for Germany last month in the 3-2 defeat to England.

Tah commented: “My style of football matches Under Armour’s philosophy of being ‘Aggressive, Young and Fearless.’ I’m proud of this new partnership, and plan to take my game to a new level, as I still have so much more that I want to accomplish in football. I believe Under Armour is the best partner to help me achieve so much more.”

Peter Murray, VP of global brand and sports marketing, Under Armour, added: “Jonathan Tah is a rising young talent who we feel has a great future ahead of him in both club and international professional football. He is a great fit to our roster of athletes today, with a resolute hunger to perform at his best and determined leadership skills demonstrated on the pitch. We strive to make athletes better through passion, design and the relentless pursuit of innovation. We’ll empower Jonathan with our products so he can perform at the highest level.”

Tah joins Under Armour’s European football talent roster that includes Granit Xhaka (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Memphis Depay (Manchester United).
