Under Armour Teamsports has announced a new partnership with the Dallaglio Foundation, founded by Rugby World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio in 2009, which will see the US sportswear brand become its official kit supplier for 2015/16.
The Dallaglio Foundation’s RugbyWorks programme engages young people at increased risk of long-term unemployment, criminality and imprisonment, to make them more employable through a three-stage journey designed around the core values of rugby.
Under Armour Teamsports is tasked with taking the brand to grassroots sports and the RugbyWorks programme that the Foundation offers typifies that ethos, according to the brand.
Damian Cooper, MD UA Teamsports said: “Under Armour Teamsports are excited to partner up with the Dallaglio Foundation for 2015-16. Lawrence is one of the true icons of British Sport and one of the outstanding figures in England Rugby history; it is a real privilege for us to have him as a UA Teamsports Ambassador. It is important for us to support the great work they do with disengaged young people in Pupil Referral Unit’s throughout the UK.”
Rachel Roxburgh, Dallaglio Foundation CEO, added: “As a charity, having Under Armour believe in the work we do using the game of rugby to help disengaged young people gain confidence, belief and become more employable, is invaluable. We’re thrilled to be entering this partnership.”
RugbyWorks is founded on long-term relationships working nationally in Pupil Referral Units, with small groups of 14-16 year olds, who have been excluded from mainstream education, for an average of two years.
Based around a curriculum of playing rugby, developing employability skills through games and workshops, and providing experiences in the workplace, Dallaglio Foundation coaches offer stability to often unstable lives and provide a personal development pathway to employability.
