Under Armour Unveils Wales Rwc Kit

The Welsh Rugby Union unveiled its new Wales range this weekend, in front of a capacity crowd in Cardiff for the team’s match with Ireland on Saturday.

The WRU and official technical partner Under Armour kept the new Wales kit under wraps until after the anthems were sung on the pitch.

Ahead of kick off, the kit was final unveiled for the warm up match, which Ireland won 35-21.

The new kit, which will be worn for the next two seasons by the national men’s, women’s and age grade sides, has been built with Under Armour’s signature technologies; HeatGear fabric, to help keep players cool and dry, and ArmourGrid technology for strength.

Scott Williams, who led Wales out against Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to wearing and releasing the new Wales range by Under Armour. They have always shown commitment, passion and cutting edge development to the Wales kit and they have continued that with the new range.”

The new home kit marks a return to the white shorts, last seen in 2013, with a predominantly red jersey alongside a trim of ‘welsh gold’.

Wales’ new anthracite away kit, which will be debuted against Italy in Cardiff next month, will also contain Under Armour technologies, as will the red and black camouflaged Wales Sevens jersey, out soon.

WRU chairman Gareth Davies added: “The first people to catch sight of this new kit range are the fans and the players representing their country against Ireland are the first to wear it.

“It is always a special moment when the Wales captain leads his team out onto the pitch for the first time in a new campaign and World Cup preparations began in earnest against the Irish at 2.30pm this afternoon.

“That moment is much anticipated and we will be tapping into some of the drama and theatre of that match-day experience by ensuring that this is also the first moment the new Wales kit is seen in public.”
